Credentialing expiry control is the monitoring and renewal workflow for time-limited professional, payer, and organizational credentials.
Maintain a credential inventory
For each credential, record the holder, the issuing authority, the scope, the verification source, the effective and expiry dates, and the renewal owner. A list without sources is hard to defend and harder to trust.
Alert windows should vary by credential. A state licence renewal needs more lead time than a routine profile attestation.
Define the action at expiry
Say what an expiring status does: block scheduling, block claim submission, block billing, or trigger review. The consequence should follow policy and payer rules, never an arbitrary software default.
Record overrides with an authority and an expiry of their own. An override should be exceptional and traceable rather than a quiet way to switch the control off.
